Naturally in order to do this - with your approval - we will obtain all required information from your pension provider. Once the information is to hand we will provide you with our initial report highlighting all the facts i.e. where things may have gone wrong including how badly your pension is being eroded against inflation.

This will then lead us to provide the alternatives that you should carry out. Changes made now could alter the future of your retirement life. Ignoring the situation could end up with a very poor retirement income from your pension.

Mapping the appropriate route to retirement will generally require specialist advice. Our approach to advising on this all important area is straightforward.

The right direction

Do you have an asset allocation framework?
Is portfolio diversified sufficiently?
Is the asset mix in line with the target – if there is one?
How is equity and bond holdings positioned?
Which of the holdings have contributed the most – or detracted the most – from the bottom line? Sustained underperformance can be an indication that something is seriously wrong with one of the holdings.
Do you have self investment and monitoring facility?
Is it time to plan next move i.e. time to formulate a rebalancing plan?
It makes sense to give the portfolio a thorough review at least once a year.
